Season Start Up

Finally, up here in Vermont the season has started. Although, about three weeks ago The first chair was caught in Maine at Sunday River by much of the Peace Coast Family. Mark Pomycato, Robbie Remmes,Mike Stack, Chris & Nick Moustafa, Myself, and several others made the trip from our distant locations to congregate for this special event. Honestly, It was about time, all those pre season jams and ice rink sessions were starting to get to me. Anywheres, friday night about 25 of us crammed into Matthew Pothiers condo house on the outskirts of Bethel, ME. Of course being the group that we are we had to make a huge scene by running a quarter of a mile down to a fresh water spring somewhere in the later hours of the nite on a Main road in the middle of nowhere Maine. After some freestyle walking and a little bit of yatzee we all called it a night . The next morning Stack attempted homicide in trying to kill Bailey and Myself by smashing an overhead light while attempting to mug me, defenseless and on the floor. His precision aim caught my wrist with a shard and almost Baileys Jugular. What a way to start the season! After cleaning our wounds we headed off to the mountain. A big Thanks to sunday river for having there canned food drive help us ski for cheap. 20 dollar lift tickets are the way to go! Our first run was much like everyone else's, full of the realization that our old skis have no edges and icy east coast pre-season is a no go! But we were to pumped to be back on the snow to care that we couldn't stop. Also the only feature that can be found in early season skiing was at its prime, cut in jumps and rollers=super fun. The park the first day was pretty weak, Mark got kicked out for doing a backflip over a little jump, but was allowed back in and almost stomped a 360 handplant on a 4X4 sticking out of the ground. A group of us ditched it, and preferred the back side of the mountain. A natural pillow stall was set-up only be to taken out before we could session by some gnarly tele dude. Nick decided that now the stall was ruined he would just air the 15ft gap to tree ride instead. It worked, until he landed and the 15ft tree collapsed to the ground. It seemed as if non of our set up would work. Then Taylor unveiled a sweet little snow block stall that turned out to be , in my opinion, the most fun element of the weekend. After some hand drags and 360 nose butters were had we headed back to the homestead where Mrs. Pothier had made a surprise feast for us! After eating several of us headed to Walmart. Our paln was to get more cans for the ticket food drive at the mountain, but ended up just geeking around the store. Robbie and Taylor rode around in powered push cart old people things. Taylor of course, wore a black ski mask he had found and terrorized the customers( but not really of course) while a bunch of us found there Santa tee shirt specials and such. After leaving we found Matthew Pothier deep in Aggresive Inline Exstacy practicing for the next day of slayage. The following day of the hill suprised us with a nice 20 ft long 6" wide flatbar and various other elements. Rollerblader, Nick Martini busted out a true Mizo 180 out on the dance floor mini box along with several pretzels on the flat bar. Noticeable a 270 on switch up pretzel 450 out. After slaying the set up for a while we headed back to the back of the mountain. Where Ben Perry 360 hand plant over a knoll highlighted the weekend.

A big Thanks to Mrs. Pothier for Putting up with us for 2 days
and to Sunday River for opening so early for all of us fiending for snow.

Look for an update soon on our recent visit's to Stowe, and meet us there this next weekend!

Leddy Rink Jam

Alright, I know there have been lots of Rink Session updates so hopefully snow will fall and the updates will be a little more interesting. As far as Rink sessions go, Andy Parry, Will Wesson, and Ross Imburgia have there set-ups on lock. Matt McGinnis and I rolled up to Leddy Ice Rink with our two friends Joe and Corey. We all couldnt believe how legit the set up was.

"The Dock"

The Wait

Two small urbans down rails that lead down into a long flat box was the session. Most of the time During the session I spent watching Andy,Will, Ross, and Jon praticing the newest creation by Andy Parry, the Creeper. I'll be the first to say, this trick is nuts! If people get this on lock then who knows how rail skiing will progress. Of course besides this Andy and Ross were crossing, tapping, and spinning all over the place. Matt McGinnis did a few nose and tail presses, and I did a few spinners and switch up's myself! Our snowoard friends had a harder time with the set up than any of us but Corey was still able to throw down some nice jibbs.

Andy....ohhhhhh! exclusive look at his new trick!

By this point I'm ready for snow, as I'm sure everyone is. We'll in the next fews days I'll be at Toggenburg Mtn. for the haybails and grindrails, and another update on that should be up next week. Come get in some shots for the update!

Utah

So, as some of you know I "moved" to utah in August. Im going to school at the U, and making fun of Lj for being a chicken as much as possible. So far its been good.

So last week, Robert came to visit to look at the school and check out the city and stuff. We went skateboarding a lot. And took some pictures the last day. So here is Robert riding an elongated sk8r boi board.

The olympic bridge or whatever its called.

Trying to pretend he is cool

Not sure if you know but he's gayer than aids

Im obviosly way cooler. I mean, i wear penguin shirts...get real

then he turned morman and went home

Thanks for listening. Im not cool. rip skiierman. peacecoast!

ps. My good friend Nathan Bevelaqua tore something stupid in his knee the first day skiing last year. He is a good kid, and God is an idiot for doing that. So in honor of him, mski has remixed his segment from the ever so epic tale called JEA (the movie) made by Hightppsneakers Media (RIP) and thus we have the most epic edit of skiing known to man. For your viewing pleasure, here is a man who actually DOES care about the environment!

Rail Jams Galore!

Almost every day for the past week around campus I have been seeing snow sprout up out of no where. It seems that up here in Burlington,VT people are itching to ski as badly as I am. So this past weekend we decided that we would try out our luck with rink snow once again. We had been planning on sessioning a box at a near by dorm for quite some time, but with people constantly busy and the weather not cooperating we were out of luck for a while. However on a Sunday morning I was awoken by my cell phone with a message, a break in bad weather and people who were willing to get snow. After waking myself up, Tommy Shimko, Matthew McGinnis, Aja Pawlikowski, Myself, and a few others collaborated and set out for the UVM ice rink to gather snow. A few hours later we had a 16ft box set up and ready to go. Speed was a bit of an issue, but it worked well for a while. The snowboarder pictured below absolutely slayed the set up doing all sorts of crazy, pressed out tricks.

After the snow started to slow down a bunch people started leaving the jam. However, Jack Byers came around the end of the session only to start it up again. We set up a small bonk that turned into a kicker session.

And also some nose block action!

After Jack and I finished goofing around we heading back to our respective college's not thinking of what would ensue later that evening. While doing an immense amount of facebooking and NSing, errr I mean homework, I began to chat with Jack online. We decided I would meet him down by the ice rink to see what we could set up for a bonk of some sort. Little did we know a blizzard had just hit the back of the ice rink. 2 hockey games had been played earlier in the day dumping a huge proportion of the white stuff. As I called Jack to tell him the good news 2 more Zamboni's unloaded a couple more gallons of snow. When Jack and Tony arrived we were too stunned by the amount of possibilities at hand. We decided on a fence jib. However, before construction could go into action we were tipped of by a Zamboni driver that an evil one toothed Zamboni driver was about to come outside and he had been know to call the cops to kick people out for no apparent reason. Lame! But, we took his advice and hid our stuff till his green ranger left the parking lot. Eventually he left and we gathered our stuff to begin. The first attempt did not go as well as we thought, a collapsible table made for a ramp to jump over, and or bonk, the fence to the other side. After set up a mass amount of people showed up, and of course the other builders and myself were rudely disrespected as our bonk turned into a wall ride. There were a few sweet shots that came from it though!

Tony Staples!
So we came up with the idea to build a better bonk further down the fence. It proved to be a wise decision. Tail Bonks, Nose Bonks, 180's and 360's were thrown over the pre-season booter.

And of course someone tried a back flip and a Liu Kang was thrown in for good measure. So many people made this session a great time, Big thanks to the Zamboni driver who helped us out, and to Bobby Bruderle who took some sweet photos of the jib. Hopefully another session will be coming soon. Until then Peace~!
